The shape of Bean was obtained through subtraction: the completely rounded top, ideal for shedding rainwater, becomes the template for symmetrical cut-outs which house the light sources.

Much of my work comes from a careful observation of everyday life. I study human behaviour to identify small problems, which require simple and practical solutions, but most of all aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The binomial form/function is now taken for granted; we must begin to consider a third value and think in terms of form/function/emotion.
By their nature, objects are passive entities, although some have an empathetic attitude that makes them different. I put poetry, emotion, amazement in what I do, sometimes just irony or kindness, and contrive to fill the product with a life-breath of its own, even if only for a moment.
